1 position of a PhD Auxiliar Researcher, in the area of Real-time Computational Systems, in order to work in topics related to the design and implementation of multi-processor real-time systems considering aspects of energy efficiency, temperature dissipation, execution parallelism, among others. Technological and methodological aspects will include computational platforms for critical application domains (automotive, avionics, etc.) as well as methodologies and tools for analyzing non-functional properties of computer systems as well as development methodologies based on domain-specific models and languages. The work to be carried out will be related to the activities developed under CISTER projects, such as: PREFECT (Predictable Multiprocessor Platforms for Embedded Safety Critical Systems); REASSURE (Secure Runtime Verification for Reliable Real-Time Embedded Software); THERMAC (Thermal-aware Resource Management for Modern Computing Platforms in the Next Generation of Aircraft); VALU3S (Verification and Validation of Automated Systems’ Safety and Security), and other future projects in related areas.

Requirements to be fulfilled by candidates are as follows:

a) Hold a doctoral degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related areas, with a prominent thesis in the required area and topics,
b) Have at least 1 year of post-doctoral experience in the required area/topic,
c) Have experience of participation in European or National projects of research, preferably in a position of responsibility and technical-scientific leadership,
d) Have high quality publications in scientific conferences and journals of the area, preferably addressing aspects related to the design of mixed-criticality systems for multi-processor architectures or aspects related to the analysis of temporal response in multi-processor systems that include parallel execution of tasks,
e) Have experience of supervision or co-supervision of PhD students (preferred) or MSc/undergraduate students,
f) Should, preferably, have experience of participation in program committees or other positions in the organisation of conferences in the scientific area,
g) demonstrate the ability to lead or participate in the elaboration of project proposals or to obtain competitive funding.

Evaluation criteria

a) Scientific and technological production (0 - 50 Points),
b) Applied research activities, or practice-based (0 - 30 Points),
c) Activities of extension and dissemination of knowledge (0 - 15 Points),
d) Activities to science management, technology and innovation programs, or experience in observing and monitoring the scientific and technological system or higher education (0 - 5 Points).
In a second evaluation phase, the jury may interview the candidates best classified with the exclusive objective of clarifying aspects related to the results of their research to better assess the suitability to the work position.

1 position of PhD Auxiliar Researcher, in the area of Real-time Computational Systems, in order to work in topics related to the design and implementation of i) computer systems to support predictive maintenance on equipment, ii) secure cyber-physical systems for the provision of energy management services, iii) communication architectures based on middleware, iv) media access protocols (MAC) for wireless sensor networks and 5G networks, or (v) "cross-layer" systems for 4G/5G wireless networks to support critical applications. The work to be carried out will be related to the activities developed under CISTER projects, such as: 5GSDN (MAC-PHY cross-layer design and multi-objective optimisation of 5G Software defined networks); FLEXIGY (Energy Flexibility Services Platform); INSECTT (Intelligent Secure Trustable Things); SMART-PDM (A Smart Predictive Maintenance Approach Based on Cyber Physical Systems), and other future projects in related areas.
